About the Project

Achieving 1.6 million page impressions on story pages alone, the Olympics Live Action Feeds module was the most popular of all the Olympics related projects built by the BBC World Service team during this year's games.

The design of the module would adapt to either a single- or double-column layout to allow for editorial freedom.

The module comprised of five main components:

The English Olympics live action module in the double-column layout. Hovering over the white circle displayed the most recent medal winner. The Chinese module in the single-column layout. The four accordion panels could be collapsed. A panel from the Vietnamese module. A panel from the Bengali module. A panel from the Tamil module. A comparison between the left-to-right Burmese layout and the right-to-left Arabic layout. The full medal table displayed all the countries who had won medals. The Olympics live action module displayed in the single-column layout on the Spanish language home page. The Olympics live action module displayed in the double-column layout on the Bengali home page.
